Oltremani is already present in Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Marche, Tuscany, Puglia, Campania and Sicily. What does Oltremani do? Oltremani creates authentic relationships between people who already live in the area and people who have arrived from other countries and are going through situations of vulnerability. We build these connections through family-based hospitality, shared everyday life, awareness-raising activities and pathways that support people towards full autonomy in society and in work. How does Oltremani fund its activities? Oltremani is a free, autonomous and independent network. We are entirely supported through voluntary donations from private individuals and small-scale projects. We do not seek or accept funding or financial resources from donors whose priorities and practices we do not consider aligned with our ethical code. Do I need specific skills to join Oltremani? No! Oltremani is a community of people who believe in active citizenship. You don\u2019t need to be a professional in the field of reception to be part of Oltremani. The only \u201crequirement\u201d is curiosity about new cultures and the desire to turn your hobbies and passions into opportunities to build new relationships. I need support on my journey, will you help me? Yes, we will, but we want to be clear: we do not have housing to offer or large financial resources. Our support is our community, the network of people and the local area. Together, we will get to know the services available where you live, overcome the barriers you have faced so far, and stop facing this complex system on your own. I am looking for a home\/I am looking for work. Can I register? Yes, we\u2019re waiting for you. We are a community of people rooted in the places where we live, and we know how hard it is to find housing and work, and how much harder it is when you are on your own. We can\u2019t promise we will always find a solution, but we can commit to facing this need together with you. I want to help a migrant\/refugee. Can I sign up? Yes. But we don\u2019t like using these \u201ccategories\u201d to talk about the people in our community. For us, what matters is building relationships, not labels. Are you ready for this kind of experience \u2013 and maybe also to be \u201chelped\u201d yourself? Will I receive compensation if I decide to host someone in my family? For Oltremani, family-based hospitality is a free act of welcome: it does not involve financial compensation. Each experience is shaped around your possibilities and those of the person you will meet. If specific needs arise, we can organise a small fundraiser or the association can help cover unexpected costs (for example medical or bureaucratic emergencies).
