Oltremani Italia is a national network created by associations and individuals. It promotes the idea of a welcoming, inclusive community based on reciprocity, generosity and authentic relationships between people.
We are committed to building communities that overcome barriers and move beyond prejudice towards people who are racialised and held back by society, such as refugees, migrants and people living in socio-economic marginalisation. We believe everyone has the right to work, housing, healthcare and to build relationships, and as an association we work every day to help make these rights a reality.
We encourage the creation of relationships between local people, refugees and migrants, based on sharing time, spaces and experiences as a way to build welcoming communities for everyone.
We support family-based hospitality by opening the doors of our homes to people leaving the state reception system who are building their future and do not want, or are not able, to do so alone. Welcoming someone means sharing daily life, spaces and needs, and building a shared path towards autonomy in housing and work.
Oltremani is an informal network of associations and people. You can become an activist by contacting the local Oltremani association in your city, or you can propose volunteer activities or the creation of a new local group within the national network by writing to info@oltremani.it
Oltremani is already present in Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Marche, Tuscany, Puglia, Campania and Sicily.
Oltremani creates authentic relationships between people who already live in the area and people who have arrived from other countries and are going through situations of vulnerability. We build these connections through family-based hospitality, shared everyday life, awareness-raising activities and pathways that support people towards full autonomy in society and in work.
