Oltremani Italia is a national network created by associations and individuals, promoting the idea of a welcoming and inclusive community grounded in reciprocity, generosity and authentic relationships between people.
We are committed to a society without barriers and prejudice towards those who are currently pushed to the margins, such as refugees, migrants and people living in socio-economic marginalisation. We do this by creating opportunities for relationships and mutual support; by offering family-based hospitality to people leaving institutional reception; and by organising community gatherings and active citizenship initiatives, cultural workshops and opportunities for sharing and raising awareness.
At Oltremani we believe that active citizenship takes place in squares, streets and public spaces in the cities where we live. We believe that sharing these places has the power to generate social impact and build communities where everyone sees their rights recognised and can live with dignity and autonomy. For this reason, we are a national association rooted in and promoted by local organisations, founded on the activism of people who create spaces of coexistence, creativity and authentic relationships. We share a way of practising community engagement that rejects emergency-driven and charitable approaches, choosing instead to build relationships from the ground up, relationships that generate autonomy, participation and rights.
