Oltretombola… for autonomy!

locandina tombola ragusa

On 14 December, Oltremani Ragusa, hosted by BAM, organised “Oltretombola… for autonomy!”

It was a special evening to enjoy together while doing something good. Families, friends, super-competitive grandmothers and very strategic children all took part in a game of tombola that set solidarity in motion.

Each card purchased helped support the “Licence for Autonomy” project, which aims to help people overcome linguistic and administrative barriers to obtaining a driving licence.

“In an area like Ragusa, having a driving licence is not an optional extra, but a basic condition for working, studying and living independently. Too many people who have arrived in Italy and are looking for a new balance remain stuck because of an obstacle we can remove with relatively little, but which weighs heavily on their lives. This is why Oltremani Ragusa has chosen to invest in this issue: supporting people as they study for their licence means opening up real possibilities, not offering symbolic assistance. We want everyone who takes part in our activities to have the tools to move around on their own, create opportunities and not depend on anyone. It is a concrete step towards a community on an equal footing, and we intend to carry it forward with determination”

said the members of the association when they presented the initiative.

The evening was also made possible thanks to the support of several local businesses, which provided the prizes, and GAS Mazzarelli, which offered mulled wine and sweets during the event.
